“My mom always told me that ‘the cream always rises to the top,’” says Shannon Stone, reflecting on life lessons. “I always remember that although it may not be easy, I’ll always be glad I did the right thing.”
In her role as Life Engagement manager, Shannon does a lot of things right. She works with the Camellia Place team and residents to develop and implement activities that enrich life and make every day a special occasion. It’s her job to fill the days with opportunities to thrive in an environment where living longer is seen as a time to cherish. From creative arts and exercise classes to group walks in the neighborhood, residents enjoy Shannon’s handiwork every day, adding life to their years.
Shannon brings experience in event planning, dance performance and instruction, and working with seniors to her role at Camellia Place. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications, with concentration in Journalism. When she’s not brightening the day for residents here, Shannon enjoys time with her family, gardening, attending church and being with friends. “My family is truly my main hobby,” she said.
Shannon credits her relationship with her “Gran” for paving the way to where she is today. “I played bridge with them, ate meals and walked with them,” she recalls, remembering times with her grandmother and her friends. “I fell in love with them!”
