So here’s the scoop on life at Camellia Place today:
- Masks – So the question of the day … do Mom and Dad need a mask? The answer is no.
Back in the day playing cops and robbers meant wearing a mask and that made the game all the more fun. Maybe it had something to do with being young, but try one now for a few minutes or hours and you will wonder … just what were you thinking. For the team at Camellia Place, wearing a mask is what we need to do to keep our Residents safe, so all of our team has them on anytime they are in the Houses and caring for Residents. That means that our Residents do not need to. This is how we have chosen to keep them protected and more importantly how we have chosen to keep them comfortable.
The only exception is if we take a Resident off property into a place with risk for potential exposure, i.e.… an MD office or Urgent/Emergent care setting. If that occurs, we will provide a mask to use during that time.
- Heroes Among Us – Did you see the photos on Facebook? As planned the Georgia National Guard arrived on Tuesday and used their expertise to sanitize our Houses. It could not have gone smoother. They instilled great confidence from the moment they arrived with their professionalism, knowledge of sanitation, and careful attention to detail. We are very appreciative of their commitment to providing this much needed service and to the Governor for arranging it. We have been told that they have cleaned over 229 communities in Georgia with many more to come. We are proud to be counted among that list. We are COVID-19 free and doing everything we can to stay that way, chalk this up to just one more step on a very long list.
- Screening – One thing for sure, all of us at Camellia Place can truthfully say we have never had our temperature taken so much and been asked daily how we are feeling today. It’s our first line of defense in identifying symptoms that might be indicative of the virus, but just the first step. If a health concern arises with any of our Residents, we are prepared to coordinate medical evaluation to determine the potential cause and to coordinate care. In the majority of cases it has nothing to do with COVID-19. After all it is allergy and flu season, but if we have any reason to suspect COVID-19, rest assured we have protocols defined and prepared to put into place.
As to team members, if they feel ill they are instructed to not come to work. If they become ill while on duty, they are sent home and monitored for cause. Return to work guidelines, are in place for a wide variety of illnesses, including CDC guidelines for COVID-19. To date, we have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among our team.
We will continue to send updates and maintain wellness as a top priority for our residents and staff.
