Founding partners Lauren Clifton and Denise Swords

Two Partners. One Mission.

Building on lifelong careers in healthcare, we founded Camellia Place to elevate expectations of assisted living and memory care. As lifelong southerners, we share a deep respect for family and understand the power of personal commitment.

Camellia Place is the reality of our separate but similar dreams. The camellia evokes images of hospitality and beauty and has its place in many family memories and photographs. It’s a reminder of where we grew up that connects us.

Fueled by personal passions and belief in living life to its fullest, Camellia Place is the name and place that unites us in our mission to add more life to your years.

The Vision of our Memory Care and Assisted Living Residence

Camellia Place is an organization driven by a mission of adding life to years in providing assisted living and memory care services and nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of those we serve and employ.

Our vision is to be a model-assisted living community by continually learning and providing extraordinary care and services whereby our encounters with residents create life-enhancing experiences that build lasting relationships.

The quality of our people is the cornerstone of our ability to serve and care for residents.  For this reason, we invest significant resources in identifying exceptional people, developing their skills, and creating an environment that fosters personal and professional growth.  Our people are interviewed and hired based on behavioral-based interview criteria ensuring caring and compassion are core values.

Memory Care and Assisted Living Awards Camellia Place

Did it take place in a high-rise boardroom as a result of studying the numbers? Did an analysis of all the data bring the idea to the surface? Was it a group of corporate investors looking for their latest investment… not in our case, this was personal.

Camellia Place was born out of a need, and a conversation among gifted and knowledgeable friends. As the founding partners, we were inspired by personal passions to each care for our own aging Moms.

Simultaneously, on the dementia journey, each of our mothers was becoming less independent and requiring a higher level of assistance.  On a mission to find a community that exemplified safety, personalized care, compassion and joy, we soon realized that the place we sought for our mothers did not exist.

This realization pushed us to look for a new way to make a significant difference in not only the care of our own mothers but in the care of others in need of assistance as well.
